This stone will be making an appearance at two shows in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2017!
Hand carved/enamelled and cut to enable it to sit on display. Made using a Cornish beach stone measuring 70 cm long by 22 cm high (and weighing around 13 Kg).
It featured in the Scottish Superwomen of Science show on the 25th- 27th August (Venue 67, Valvona and Crolla) and at ‘Women, Science is Not For You III’ on the 25th August at Venue 7 (New Town Theatre).
‘Sidereal Signs’ (39.5 x 13 cm).
Based on cup and ring markings from ‘the Runic Cross’ (Innerleithen), a cup and ring marked stone found at Lamancha in 1868 (now in the National Museum of Scotland) and a cup and ring marked stone found at Lyne in 1959 (now in Peebles Museum).

Slate, wood, wax twine (18 x 3 cm). Slate from the disused quarry at Altarstone, Stobo. Blade carvings replicate Mason’s marks found on Tweed Bridge and Neidpath Castle.

‘Cutting Teeth I’ (30 x 6 cm). Slate, sheep jawbone and pitch pine resin. Slate from the disused quarry at Altarstone, Stobo. Sheep jawbone found on the slopes of Lee Pen, Innerleithen. Pitch pine resin made traditionally using pine resin from Caberston Forest, rabbit droppings from Thornielee Forest and charcoal from an old rowan tree in Innerleithen.
